BLIMP PROPELLOR


What you need:
 - Food can
 - motor
 - tin sheers
 - soldering gun
 - nail
 - hammer

Step 01:  Pile everything
Step 02:

Cut the flat strip off the can. BE CAREFULL SHEET METAL IS EVIL AND CUTS YOU REALLY EASY.




Cut the rim off too.. Were going for that nice flat bit..


Final cuts to get our strip of metal...
Step 03:
Straighten it out... again, carefull, its sharp.


Step 04:

 Use the hammer and nail to punch a hole thru the middle big enough for the motor shaft,
Punching it is better cause the flare gives better surface area to attach to the motor shaft.


You can see here the way the metal is pushed out on the back side.

Step 05:

Draw out the propellor shape, this shoudl taper a little slower...
Step 06:

Cut out propellor.
Step 07:

  Curl it, its hard to see here, but its cupped, ever so slightly...






Step 08:

  The shaft of most motors are given a solder resistant coating, so file that off..
Step 09:

 Push prop onto motor...
Step 10:

 Solder it on, I used a 150W soldering gun...
Step 11:

GIVA DA POWA!
(apply power) be carefull that your not in the way if your soldering job is bad and it flies off


I tried to get it to balance a ball, but it has to have a cowling for that.
cowlings are beyond the scope of this goofoff session.
