Apparently started in 2012, this tilt and pan mirror was originally targeted to place sunlight into a dark bedroom. Work stopped on it due to software design difficulties and the inability to position the rotation drive motor properly. One of this summers projects was an arm to hold parts during construction of larger projects like this. (3rdarm project) Last weekend the arm was finished (is any project REALLY ever finished?) and the first task was to mount the rotational motor for the tilt-and-pan mirror. The mirror itself is tasked (software be darned) on directing sunlight to the dark end of a row of beans. The software has since been worked out, or rather not. Its been determined that giving an AVR microcontroller a few waypoints over the course of a day and then having it interpolate between them is close enough. (yay no lunar tracking required) Over the next few weeks, the system should get the sensors, motor drivers, and microcontroller it needs to do things automatically.
