The idea was to cast a project box, as I'd not done this before. The first box template I made two errors, First, I tried to completely build the corner screw provision from hot glue, didn't work. Second, I beveled too many edges. The bottom of the box cant be beveled or it can't be molded up. When molding it up, everything went great till I tried to remove the template, the sand stuck to the inside, partly because of the lack of bevel to the inside, and partly due to the vacuum effect of removing it. Less said, do again. While the sand was in the wheelbarrow I tried a few things, and I found that the sand USUALLY didn't stick if I pressed the template into it. With the cope lightly packed, I tapped the template into it. The whole thing was given lots of release (baby powder) and the cope was done up ontop of it. Even without the release, the cope sand may not have stuck to the drag sand, layers don't tend to stick. The deformation of the drag surface caused by packing the cope does not matter, they will still match, its just important they dont stick. After forming the runners, I crossed my fingers and tried to remove the template, with a lot of tapping, and then re-pressing it in after a removal, I got it looking OK, not great, but OK. I knew a bit of sand was falling down in the channels and I could not get it out without messing other stuff up. After that, the usual casting thing. Came out ok, was it worth it? maybe, I learned more stuff. I did take it to the disc sander to clean up the edges too. There is a hole, but I think I can include it in the cutouts for the project.
